Maybe today or recently I marred up one fork stanchion, looks like rock damage (what else would it be). What's the best bet here, replace just that part or buff it out or ?

Fill it with Clear nail polish(or pink) and buff it out as smooth as possible, you may have to fill it several times depending on how deep it is. You might need to get better seals because stock Fox's are not too good. Get some Enduro seals.

I've been running Enduro's since you & Pat recommended them to me last year.

What do you recommend for buffing? On MTBR I've read everything from 600 grit to 2000 to a Dremel wood polishing attachment.

I've also seen crazy glue and JB Weld recommended as crack fillers.

thanks

I buffed it w/600 grit and put some nail polish in there and buffed it, but the stuff didn't really get hard, should be ok now. We'll see in UT!

If you ever have occasion to polish something really smooth use micromesh. It starts at 1500 and goes to 12,000 grit.
