but they want to pull the plug on Gary.
It seems like a waste of a bike to me, so who's got the carbon tape and glue to patch him up? :D

So, no replacement parts, no warranty replacement, and no discount on a replacement?

check with Ben...maybe he still has some busted frames around (he may offer a crash replacement too)or I can get someone to bust mine...legit of course...and than you can have my seat stay ;)
hot tubes could probly fix it too maybe worth a call , we talked to Toby when Paul broke his road bike and it would have cost about $150 if Trek hadnt cut it
TREK SUCKS!!!!

Laura, Ben is at Bicycle Concepts –

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bicycle-C ... 74?sk=info

So on Tuesday I cleaned my bike from the Epic and found my main pivot bolt sheared off. I thought the rearend felt a little wobbly on those “poppers” during the last half of the ride. I was concerned about a replacement part because Titus went bankrupt last year. As it turns out they were bought by a UK company and are back up and making bikes again. I spoke with CS on Wen at 4p, placed the order and a new bolt kit arrived yesterday. Titus has a new frame design of their Rockstar 29er, he said the frames are being painted now and should be ready for sale next week. Time to upgrade the 26” Motolite or maybe with a TrekGF based on all the BUMS reviews.

Why not just ride it the way it is? The branch looks cool and is probably stronger than the factory design.

TP,

PS-Do they want to offer you any kind of assistance with a frame or bike?

Hey Charlie, thought I heard bicycle concepts had a 2012 specialized 29er demo bike, if they do try it out, my stumpjumper is awesome, best bike I've ever ridden.

I wonder what happens to all the Hi Fi frames that cracked the chainstays. Do the dealers have to send them back to Trek or are there a bunch of good used seatstays under the workbenches of various shop techs. Laura.............. if you can't find anyone to fix it I could build you a bamboo seat stay that would be prettier than the splint look you are running now.

thanks for info on Ben & Hot tubes ( I didn't realize Toby is right in Shirley)

I'm not sure if the shops got to keep the broken frames, but that is one avenue I'm pursuing, it sounds like the factory gets em back - and throws them out ??? What a waste for bikes that are only two - three years old.

I was offerd the crash replacement frame for $900 but I want to make that the last resort. I am very happy with the bike and hate to trash it for piece that is completely removable.

stay tuned...

There are some Hi Fi seatstays for sale in the Pink Bike classifieds. The seller is from Maine and the stays are red in color. AND CHEAP MONEY!

interesting, during my search the first week I found an expired listing on Ebay for Hi Fi seatstays so it makes me wonder why the bike shops didn't grab those rear triangles. The stay is seeing a specialist but I may consider these cheap insurance. But you really have to explain to me the' Pink Bicycle " name. ?

Ha,Ha.... Pinkbike is a mountain bike oriented web site much like MTBR.com. I tried to post a link but couldn't make it work. (I guess I'm stuck in the smoke signal age!)
