Whelp guess I'm one of those people who jumped in here but after reading the blog post it's hard to sit by and watch my friends and fellow club members be called "idiots". Didn't think "joker" was overly harsh but I apologize if I offended. As a side note please realize that the race profits are donated to a charity and many of the course marshal/worker have donated countless hours to course prep and race day organization. They do it because they love the sport and want to see it grow for the community. This is the reason so much effort is put into the kids races, first timers and novice class each year. Bravo to the race organizer for taking into consideration newbies safety and experience level when marking out a course.
Enjoy the sport and keep an open mind when it comes to racing. Maybe you'll one day become a promoter and see that it's not easy.
