Looking at getting the GoPro 1080 dpi camera.
Anybody have thoughts on these movie cameras ?

The videos I've seen from these cameras look good. I think for a small "bombproof" camcorder for mountain biking this is a great product. It takes 1080 video which is great. You can also set it to take 5mp stills every 2-60 seconds. The lens is a f/2.8 which is a nice bright lens for riding in shady areas.
The only problem may be that it might boost you confidence.

I know the club camera (contour 720 I think?) worked really good in Moab, but does tend to be somewhat dark on the local trails. I don't know if the go pro is any better. The contour does seem to be more stream line and might be less possible to get broken. I would go to MTBR.COM and check the forum, I'm sure there are a million reviews there. I know the one we have makes you look like you are really flying on the trails, or maybe thats just because Steve is using it ;)

I might be able to get a ~50% discount on the GoPro through a ski instructor friend. Was thinking of getting one too.

cool, keep me posted. But, I am unclear whether the units come with storage cards. These are $ 99 additional if I'm correct. But if all is 50% off then I'm better at getting.
