....I started riding a Banshee Paradox!

As some of you know I've been demoing a 2011 Banshee Paradox for the past week. The Paradox interested me because it has alot of the frame characteristics that I like on my 26 inch bikes: Short chainstays, slack head angle and a stiff frame. I did one quick test ride on the Banshee at Goat Hill last week and was blown away how un-29er the bike felt. Saturday I did a big ride in Uxbridge ( 18 miles) and felt really good. Typically my back feels like garbage after the first hour- but not today. Last night I rode pretty much everything at Sutton and again the bike (and I) felt really good. The bike rails on the downhills ( it has one of those Rock Shox Reverb dropper posts- which is awesome!), and feels very confortable through the chatter. Climbing is very good (duh-its a hardtail), and the 1x9 setup is better than I expected as well. Overall I think the Paradox adresses everything I did not like about 29ers- dead handling, not flickable, and heavy to lift the front end.

Am I selling my Ibis 26er anytime soon? Nope- I still really like the feel of a light, 5 inch travel trail bike for tech x-country riding.

Am I selling my other hardtails and building up a Banshee 1x10? yup- for alot of the riding we do this bike is perfect- and better yet it fits me VERY well.

If anyone else is interested in checking out the demo let me know. I'll have it tonight at the tt tonight and I'm bringing it back to the shop tomorrow.

Thats what I originally thought about 29'ers a couple of years ago ... then I got old and smartened up . Like Mike Laplante says , "29'ers are like cheating" ... 8-)

.... I bought my Trek Marlin! Rode a fatboy, thanks Mike T, and found that I really enjoyed the larger wheels. Bought the Marlin and had the best ride ever. Felt really good on the trails and felt invincible! Only had it since December and looking forward to the time trials season to stretch her legs a little more.

You just described the Pivot Les geometry Mike. Now that I have my Les sorted out, its a beast.
